Summary: Corktown Health Center, Michigan’s first nonprofit health center dedicated to meeting the health care needs of the LGBTQ+ community, is recruiting for a part time Registered Nurse. The RN will predominantly assist with calling labs to patients, medication reconciliation/refills, clinical EMR (Athena) inboxes, attaining prior authorizations and triaging clinical calls. The RN will also aid nurse practitioners or physicians during treatment, examination and follow-up of patients including the performance of education, counseling and follow-up regarding test results. The professional in this role should embrace our mission and be familiar with the health issues faced by persons who are LGBTQ+. The RN is expected to demonstrate creative problem solving skills, excellent clinical judgment and the ability to balance independence and effective collaboration with the nurse practitioners, physicians and agency staff.
Requirements: BSN from an Accredited School of Nursing, Active Michigan Registered Nurse License. Knowledge of Public Health Code and Michigan Nurse Practice Act preferred. Minimum of 5+ years ambulatory nursing with 2 years of relevant clinical experience providing care to LGBTQ+ persons, HIV positive patients and/or those with a history of STIs, trauma, addiction and mental health needs required. Applicants should support a culture of learning and be comfortable discussing matters of sexuality, sexual orientation and gender identity in an affirming manner.
- $33 – $37 / hour based on education and experience.
Schedule & Working Conditions: This position is part time, three days per week, predominantly during business hours, Monday through Friday and may require some evening and weekend hours, as clinic hours expand. The position is based in Detroit and may require some workdays assigned at various sites. Work is generally performed within a clinic and medical office environment and includes significant in person, phone and email contact with patients/clients, clinical and support staff funders and the general public. This position reports to the Vice President of Clinical Operations.
