A Legacy

Corktown Health was launched in 2017 by the non-profit organization Health Emergency Lifeline Programs (HELP). HELP was founded in 1986, near the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic with a mission to provide care and support to people living with HIV in southeastern Michigan.

Over time, HELP’s services expanded to include a full range of primary care, mental health and support services to the LGBTQ+ community as well as individuals living with HIV. Today we are known as Corktown Health and we proudly serve over 3,000 people each year. Every day our team of clinicians, therapists, health educators and support staff work to meet the needs of Michigan’s LGBTQ+ community by providing the affirming care they deserve.
