Frequently Asked Questions

It’s very common to receive a bill after services even if you have met your deductible (the amount you pay before your insurance kicks in) and paid your co-pay, there are still costs for coinsurance, and other out of pocket expenses. These costs are far less than they would be if you did not have insurance.
An EOB is provided by your insurance company to show any claims submitted after receiving a service. These can be very helpful in seeing exactly which services and how much your insurance is going to pay. Keep in mind though that this is not an actual bill as there are still other adjustments that are sometimes made after the claim is submitted. Always wait for the bill from the doctor’s office to see the actual amount due and if you have any questions you can always call the insurance company or billing department. Just make sure you have the bill on hand as they sometimes will need further information.

Medicaid is health care that is provided for free by the state to people with disabilities or to qualified persons under 138% of the poverty line. Affordable Care Act (ACA) coverage is obtained through the federal health insurance market place. From November 1st through December 15th people can make an account at healthcare.gov and apply for and select health insurance. This will have to be paid out of pocket (though low income individuals usually get a tax discount to their premium). Additionally, if one moves or loses their existing insurance they can apply for coverage through the market regardless of the time of year. If you need assistance enrolling, contact our care management team.
