POSITION SUMMARY: The Gardening Consultant will maintain an educational garden located on Corktown Health’s campus for the 2024 Gardening Season. The Garden Consultant will grow, tend, and harvest Fruits, and vegetables and prepare them to be distributed to Corktown Health clients/patients and other community members. Along with some educational presentations, and facilitations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains an on-site educational garden.
- Transplanting, Planting, Weeding, Composting, Clean Up, and Organization.
- Supports reporting on activities and outcomes.
- Expands existing network of community partners and resources.
- Works with agency program staff to enhance the client/patient experience at Corktown
- Educational Facilitation, and Presentations
- Completes appropriate documentation for all services rendered in designated systems.
- Adheres to HIPAA privacy standards and program specific grant requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma/GED or writing and math skills at high school level.
- Experience working with community members and key stakeholders.
- Experience gardening, including planting and tending.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Existing or ability to gain knowledge of
- regional and native plant life
- local pests and how to address them
- The ability to lift, push, pull and move heavy objects (Wheel Barrels, Soil, and Gardening Equipment.)
- The ability to remain on your feet for several hours at a time
- A love of the outdoors and plant life
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have any direct reports.
TRAVEL
This position may require local travel.
SALARY RAN8GE & BENEFITS
$18.00 to $21.00 hourly
No benefits are included with this position.
SCHEDULE & WORKING CONDITIONS
10-20 hours per week. This position is contingent. Although work will predominantly take place during daytime and early evening hours Monday through Friday, this position might require some weekend hours for garden maintenance and outreach. Work is generally performed within the garden, there are some educational facilitations of educational resources/presentations within the office space. The position also includes some in-person, phone and email contact with clients, staff and the public. This position reports to the Grows Program Coordinator.
